The Sulby Glen Hotel & Stores is a beloved traditional country inn nestled at the foot of the scenic Sulby Glen, offering uninterrupted views of surrounding mountains and glens. Managed by resident owners Rosemary Christian and her sons, the inn exudes rustic charm and warm Manx hospitality. Guests can unwind beside a cosy log fire in the bar or enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal in the welcoming lounge. Recent refurbishments have introduced high-quality, traditionally styled bedrooms, reinforcing its reputation as the “Last Traditional Inn” on the Island.
The bar showcases an impressive range of real ales from local favourites like Bushy’s, Odin, and Okells, alongside guest ales from further afield. A wide selection of gins, whiskeys, and hand-picked wines further elevates the offering, making it a true haven for drinks enthusiasts.
Food is served from Wednesday to Sunday, with lunch service only on Sundays (the kitchen is closed Mondays and Tuesdays). The menu features a hearty mix of pub classics and seasonal favourites, from Steak & Guinness Pie and Home Made Lasagne to Freshly Battered Cod and Chilli Con Carne. There are also jacket potatoes, pizzas, light bites, children’s meals, and a well-rounded selection of salads and steaks. Vegetarians and vegans are thoughtfully catered for with options like Cannelloni, Vegetable Spring Rolls, and the Soup of the Day.
A rotating daily specials board keeps things fresh and exciting, while Sundays are all about the hotel’s popular Sunday Carvery – available at lunchtime only – featuring a choice of three meats, a generous range of vegetables, and a vegetarian option.
The dessert menu is full of nostalgic favourites such as Home Made Cheesecake, Sherry Trifle, and Chocolate Fudge Cake, all served with Manx ice cream, cream, or custard. Lighter slices of cake are also available daily.
Beyond great food and drink, The Sulby Glen hosts a vibrant calendar of events, including Bingo Nights, Guest Chef Evenings, Tapas Nights, Cocktail & Canapé Events, and their famous Afternoon Teas. Regular darts and pool competitions add to the lively community spirit.
The hotel has twice been crowned CAMRA Pub of the Year, named Isle of Man Breweries Pub of the Year, and proudly holds the Cask Marque award. With traditional roots, excellent food, exceptional ales, and genuine Manx hospitality, the Sulby Glen Hotel is a true gem worth discovering – whether you're a local or a visitor to the north of the Isle of Man.
